Now is the time to stop being confused about the multitude of color concealers. It's really all about balance, you just have to figure out a balance by using the color wheel.
GREEN
Green is the opposite of red on the color wheel, and therefore will neutralize any redness from acne, rosacea, birthmarks, scars, and more. Does it actually work? Yes. Can you use it without looking like the Wicked Witch of the West? Yes. Here's How:
Less is more: Apply it ONLY where needed. Don't forget to blend well either, and layer with skin-toned foundation or concealor.
Color match: Color intensity and tone can make a big difference in what happens when you use green concealer. If you can't seem to find the perfect match customize it by mixing it with foundation and blend it until you have the perfect tone. You'll know you got it when it blends seamlessly into your skin.
Ask again: Ask yourself if you really need green color corrector. Chances are, that unless you have a truly rosy skin-tone, or have a condition that make the red REALLY stand out, you won't need any green.
Yellow
Remember, yellow is very warming, and brightening!
Glowing: Yellow powder (or primer) can add warmth to your complexion, create a lightening effect, and help to erase signs of fatigue.
Red be-gone: Yellow helps balance and soften pink tones in the skin. Yellow color-concealer is also good for neutralizing pinkness in blemishes and fading out under eye circles. Yellow can also create a clean slate for you to apply eye make up when blended onto the eyelids.
Pink
The opposite of pink is a bluish-green.
Orange undertones: When dealing with darker spots (like under the eyes) you have to use pinks that have warmth to them. So you want to look for pink color concealers with orange undertones, like salmon, which is more inconspicuous when dealing with bluer areas of the skin.
Blend, blend, blend: Apply your foundation over the concealer and blend extremely well to get a natural look.
Brighten: A light hued pink will counteract sallow, dull skin, as well as highlight, brighten, and refreshen when used on the inside and outside corners of the eyes.
Orange
This is perfect for balancing out unwanted cool tones in the skin.
Under eye circles: Orange helps to counteract the deep bluish hues underneath eyes.
Spot on: Try an orange hued primer or corrector for covering freckles, age spots, and hyper-pigmentation.
Ashes away: For medium to dark skin tones use a caramel or peachy-toned primer.
Say no to carrots: If orange is too overwhelming for your skin tone, look for mellow shades like apricot, tangerine, peach, and salmon.
Other uses: By mixing orange concealer with regular concealer you can temporarily fade away blue-green veins that are visible through the skin, as well as some tattoos.
Blue and Purple
Hues of purple help balance out yellow-toned blemishes on most skin tones. If you have darker skin, blue can help neutralize under eye darkness, and it can take out some of the orange-y-ness caused by self-tanners.
