Gardening: 5 Things You Might Not Know About Composting

1.) Items, such as soiled cardboard and paper, can be composted.

2.) If something such as a newspaper can be recycled, do it! That way chemicals, like ink, doesn't get into your compost.

3.) If you're unsure of whether or not it can be composted follow the "if it used to be alive" rule. (i.e. animal bones, egg shells, dairy products.)

4.) "Biodegradable" does NOT mean "compostable."

5.) Although compostable, animal bones and dairy products will make your garden stink, and attract rodents.
