Even though packaging for flea treatments tell you to wrap the used/empty containers with many sheets of newspaper before disposing of it, many regions request that you bring them to the cities' hazardous waste facility instead. The US Environmental Protection Agency is now evaluating flea and tick treatments to determine which types need a stronger warning label on the packaging. In some cities (like L.A.) and states (New York) already have all of them labeled as Hazardous waste and require them to be brought to hazardous waste facilities.
