Entertainment: 10 Jilted Grooms

Sometimes in a movie it's a good thing when the bride leaves the groom at the alter....Like when Fiona left Lord Farquad for Shrek, so here's the Top 10 of Movie Grooms Left at the Alter:

  • Massimo, the Wedding Planner Mary Fiore (Jennifer Lopez) left Massimo (Justin Chambers) for Steve or "Stev" (Matthew McConaughey).
  • Robbie, The Wedding Singer Robbie (Adam Sandler) stood at the end of the aisle and waited, and waited, and waited, but Linda didn't show up. This of course, sent him on a hilarious drunken binge at work.
  • Andrew, Sweet Home Alabama In front of all their guests, bride-to-be Melanie (Reese Witherspoon) tells Andrew (Patrick Dempsey) that she can't go through with the ceremony.
  • Prince Humperdinck, The Princess Bride One of my all time favorite movies has the beautiful Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn) never saying "I do" to Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon) even though the minister said "I now pronounce you man and wife). As far as Westley (Carey Elwes) and I are concerned she didn't say "I do" so they never got married.
  • Kevin, 27 Dresses Kevin (James Marsden) has a lot of cynicism about marriage and relationships since his fiance` left him at the alter for his college room mate. Jane (Katherine Heigl) slowly gets him to come around though.
  • Fletcher, Bride Wars I'm still not sure who ditched who. All though Emma (Anne Hathaway) ran into her best friend's wedding to knock her out for switching the movie, it was Fletcher (Chris Pratt) who did the actual leaving.
  • Sack Lodge, Wedding Crashers Sack (Bradley Cooper) is the douchiest man to ever wear a yellow v-neck, and definitely doesn't deserve bride-to-be, Claire (Rachel McAdams). He definitely deserved losing her to John (Owen Wilson) at her sister's wedding.
  • Colin, Made of Honor I suppose it was romantic comedy karma for Patrick Dempsey when his character, Tom, realized he had feelings for his long-time best-friend Hannah (Michelle Monaghan). Shame it took the presence of her fiance, Colin, for him to realize it.
  • Reuben, Along Came Polly The only thing worse than being left at the alter, is walking in on your new wife, hours into the honeymoon, and seeing her bonking a nearly naked Hank Azaria on a boat.
  • Elliot, The Baxter Elliot (Michael Showalter) is so nice that he's dumped all over (a "baxter"), but the biggest injustice is when his fiancĂ©e (played by Elizabeth Banks) is stolen away, at the alter, by her ex, Bradley (Justin Theroux). No problems though, Michelle Williams is waiting in the wings.
