Culture: Why Couples Renew Their Vows

It seems like every week a new celebrity couple are renewing their vows, but annual vow renewal are actually quite rare in the non-celeb world. The Knot suggests that you should only renew your vows on major anniversaries, and that you shouldn't renew them too soon or too often. Although, there are many other reasons a couple would want to renew them, such as if you were to have eloped, had a civil ceremony and want a religious commitment as well, or if you couldn't afford a wedding. However, you should NOT renew your vows just because you miss wedding planning, and want an excuse to throw a party. The Knot also suggests wearing your original wedding dress, but registering for gifts again is just tacky.
